Your Halloween Costume Should Be

Candy Corn

I finally got my 2 new books in the mail yesterday!! I'm not sure what took them so long, but I'm glad they made it here for the weekend so I could jump right into them!!! I started reading Eclipse last night and was on page 200 when I finally put it down to go to bed!! I am really enjoying it and am really glad that I have Breaking Dawn waiting for me when I finish!

I know this is a controversial topic, but I heard yesterday that O.J. Simpson has been found guilty of robbery and may very well spend the rest of his life in jail. And you know what? I'm ok with that because I feel like he should have been in jail for the last 13 years for killing Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. I know that some people may feel that he is not guilty of those murders, but I truly believe he did it and am glad that he will have to pay a price for SOMETHING and lose the rights that I don't believe he deserves to have. If you haven't read the book, "If I Did It," you should!

Walter and I are planning to go out on our boat this afternoon with Cathy & Brent. Cameron says he may come and invite a friend or two, plus we invited our friend, Christine, who may come. My IPhone ate some of my phone numbers when I converted everything from my old phone, so I can't find my friend, Terri's phone number to invite her, and our friends, Lesley & Mike (plus kids) can't come because they already have plans for the day. It's sort of last minute, but that's how we roll on the river. It's a pretty day and we haven't been on the boat much this summer with everything that's been going on, so I would love to spend the afternoon on the river. We want to eat dinner at a restaurant on the river, which is always fun! Here is a picture of Walter's birthday present - a dock ladder. Yeah, really! That's what he wanted! And yeah, those are his hands at the bottom of the ladder going into the really cold river. He wanted to look for some things that may have blown into the water during the hurricane, and oddly enough, he found both things he was looking for! Then he thought he'd be cute and float around awhile.

If you have (or have had) a teenager, then you probably know how they like to mumble. Quite unexpectedly, I've found a pretty good cure for the mumbling!!! When we went to the DMV to get our licences renewed and Cameron's driver's permit on Friday, we all 3 had to be in different places doing different things throughout the time we were there. Apparently, when I went to take my driver's licence picture, Walter was waiting with Cameron while he gave the lady his information, including whether he wanted to be an organ donor. When we got home, Cameron was looking at his permit and said, "the lady put that I want to be an organ donor, but I told her I didn't." Now, I wish I would have been there for that, because I'm all about being organ donors and would have liked to talk to Cameron about it, but I wasn't there. So I told Walter later that the lady had put "organ donor" on Cameron's license even though he said no. Walter said, "you know, I heard him say no and wondered if the lady heard him because he was mumbling, but since she didn't ask again, I figured she did." I found that really funny and let Cameron know that he's now given away his organs because of his mumbling!!! I did let him know the benefits of being an organ donor and let him know that we can go back and change it if he wants to. Later in the day, he mumbled about something and I said, "remember that mumbling can cause you to lose your organs!!" I really crack myself up sometimes! Here is a picture of our game of "Cranium, The Family Fun Game" that I got from my swap partner, Marla. We had fun playing it and I was cracking up at the challenge they had to do - one of them had to form a hoop out of clay and the other had to flip 2 frogs through it before the timer ran out! It was really funny!! And no, they were not successful!!

Well, I'm off to clean the boat!! I hope you all have a sunny Sunday!!

fun fun with the cranium game! Maybe we should get one of those!

As far as OJ. Im happy he's finally going to have to pay for SOMETHING he's done wrong. I don't think anyone in their RIGHT MIND thought he was innocent.

p.s. the glove didn't fit because he was advised his fingers would swell up if he didn't take his arthritis medication so that's how he managed that one. If there ever was pure evil in the world I think he'd fit the description. No remorse or sorrow, just smug arrogance. blech.

I'm still waiting for my turn for the books at the library.
We've got a mumbler at home too. I'll have to start thinking of something just as clever to get him to speak up.

Kass mumbles, too. He swears he can understand the mumbly guy on King of the Hill. Basic may have cured that. He is an organ donor but I'm going to use that if he mumbles when he gets home. He will be confused, of course.

I am glad about OJ, too. Vegas isn't far from me and it seems creepy.

I loved Eclipse!!!! I have re-read that more times than I am really willing to admit.
We were living in L.A. at during the first OJ trial. Most people there thought he did it too. I remember the outrage there when he was aquited. So, I'm with you on that topic and from what I can tell, so is most of the planet.

I am trying to get back into reading the 3rd book of the Twilight series, but since going back to work, it's been hard to find the time.

I agree with you about OJ...hang him!

Yay for getting your books! I love to read too, but I always stay up too late when I read and I'm tired the next day.

Glad that Walter found his stuff in the river. Did he dive under the water to look for it? Yikes, I would have been skeered to do that.

I was glad that O.J. was found guilty! I remember how upset I was when he was found NOT guilty back in 1995. That was just wrong!

Loved all four of those books. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the movie!

I agree with you about OJ. It's about time he gets what he's had coming to him.

Sounds like you had a great time boating. I haven't been out on a boat in years.

You had me laughing out loud about the mumbling! That's classic!

I'm laughing at all of your thoughts and scenarios from the weekend. I love the old Cranium game and have had many a moment in stitches at my own or a friend or family members expense. Can't wait to play the new one.

So, Dawn...as an educator & all, do you think the fact that OJ was convicted on the 13th anniversary of his acquittal on murder charges is a coincidence or ironic? SNL had a funny Weekend Update item about it... something about he was convicted of "murder" Friday. BTW, I've posted something today about the disappearance of the puzzling Blogstalker, who seems to have evaporated from Cyberspace. I notice that you're on his/her/its blogroll, so thought I'd touch base. Please drop by and weigh in on this mystery!

Dawn -- Hi!! I've been reading but haven't been commenting lately and I feel like a horrible blog friend! So...I'm here to encourage you to hurry up and finish those books so I can hear your take on them. I LOVE them and wish the series would go on forever!

Ditto about OJ... I hope they throw away the key to his cell.

I did that costume quiz and got Elvis. No thanks! I don't think I could handle everyone I walk up to giving me their best Elvis impression.

Sigh...an afternoon on a boat. Did you read Eclipse while on it? That would be the PERFECT afternoon for me. Let me know how you like Eclipse, too...

I was in Vegas with OJ...it was the talk of the town...I had no idea the trial was even taking place there, which proves that I am out of the OJ loop. Oh well.

First, I agree that OJ should have been in prison already. I heard a witness the other day explain why the gloves didn't fit.

And second. Teenagers love to mumble. It drives me crazy. Look at the person you are talking to and speak clearly. Is that so much to ask?

Anyway, I'm back...great post
