That is the question! I kept a blog while we were building our house and really enjoyed keeping up with it. I've started a new blog several times, but can't decide if I have anything interesting enough to say to that people will want to read, but then again, if nobody reads it but me, then it can be as boring as I want it to be!! It seems like everyone has a blog these days. I think it is a great outlet to vent when I need to or just to talk about whatever I feel like talking about without anyone stopping me! So there! I'm going to start blogging again and I hope it is entertaining for you.
I guess if you are new to my world, then I should tell you about us. I am Dawn - a 42 year old social worker living in St. Amant, Louisiana. I took the extended plan through college and graduated with my master's degree last May. I got an awesome job as a school counselor and am just completing my first year at my job. And yes, I have SUMMERS OFF!! That is just amazing to me. I know I must be aggravating my friends by saying that a lot, but it's so exciting to me! I have been married for 6 years to Walter, a man we call Mr. Wizard. He is a wonderful person and is very good to me.
We have an assortment of children, so see if you can follow along. Elizabeth is going to be 27 in July. She was born when I was 16 years old and I gave her up for adoption. We reunited 6 years ago and have a great relationship. She lives 30 minutes away and I see her often. John Paul is 24 years old and is currently in jail in Houston, Texas. He is waiting for his trial in July, which will hopefully really happen this time. He has been in jail since February 1, 2007. Sean is my step-son and he is 22 years old and he lives in Baton Rouge. Cameron is 14 and lives with us a week and his dad a week. And as for grandchildren, Elizabeth's boyfriend, Brad, has a 7 year old son, Bradley, and Elizabeth has 2 sons, Landen is 6 and Mack is 1.
There is a lot going on around here lately. We moved into our house a year ago and still have a million things to do to finish it. Walter, my wonderful husband, is currently wanting to start building a pier (we live on the river) and a screened in porch. I currently don't want to do anything at all, but need to start staining the stairs and doors, and painting baseboards upstairs. That is just the beginning of the list. We built the house doing most of the work ourselves and after 15 months, we moved in, but were burned out. I think i've worked on the house once since then!
We currently have 6 cats in the house and 3 on the back porch, but only 2 are ours. J.J., aka GoGo and Nadda, aka Binky belong to us. The rest are cats and kittens that have been neglected by our terrible next door neighbors. I am in the process of getting help from CAAWS to get them fixed and then find homes for them. I brought a pregnant cat in from the yard and helped her raise her kittens so that they will be friendly and can find homes. She had 4 kittens and 1 left this week for his new home. The others will be gone by the 14th. One of the back porch cats had kittens under our good neighbor's house, so i'm hoping I can get my hands on them soon. I'm determined to put an end to this endless breeding and then starving of cats.

I JUST read this. Can you believe it?! I'm so glad you reunited with Elizabeth...you are BLESSED! It's AWESOME that y'all have a good relationship...I'm sure you worried like any mother about her and wondered and she did the same about you. Not all adopted children are that lucky! She sounds like a great and happy daughter! It must be nice to have grands! I will pray for the one in houston. God will give him another path to follow that is rightous and he will be fine. As for the 14 year old, he sounds very sane. I could not do the one week here and one week there thing...it would drive me CCCCRRRAAAZZZZYYY!!!! lol. I applaud you for rescuing the cats! My aunt does stuff like that! She has 4 cats and raccoon outside and 8 cats that are hers, and 2 rescue kittens she already has a home for! God needs people like you!! You're ana AMAZING person! :)
Love, Mere <#
