This picture is of my friend, Gabrielle (Gabby) Marcantel who I met in graduate school and grew very close to. This month marks 1 year since she was killed in a car accident a week before our graduation and is also the month of her birthday. Graduation was so hard and so sad to get through after losing her and being at the graduation again this year made me think of her even more. Gabby was a special person and I know that she is with God now, but it has been so hard for those of us left behind to miss her. We had a dinner to celebrate her birthday and talked about the happier times. She will never be forgotten. The graduation was great and the party afterwards was a lot of fun. It's always nice to see my grad school friends, especially the ones I don't see often. I got to drive Christine's convertible Toyota Solara around last night and Walter may be right - I need to think about getting that instead of a Mustang. Maybe it was just the feeling of all the girls riding around with the top down, who knows, but it is a very grown up feeling sporty car. The freaky friend of Cathy's showed up after I left the party at 10pm, so maybe she waited until I left? Good for her then, because it was a fun night for me and I met some nice friends of Cathy's.
I have lost another pound for a total of FIVE!! If I could somehow lose 10 more, or at least 5 more, I'd be a happy camper and would look pretty good in my bathing suit. The cruise is coming up fast, so I am determined to keep working out and eating right. I worked out 3/5 days this week and plan to go today. We only ate out once this week too, and that makes a big difference.
I may go visit my friend, Kelly tomorrow afternoon and meet her new puppy, Elvis. We are also getting together at our friend, Becky's for dinner Monday night. I love my friends!
No poker run today because the river is closed due to the high water. The storms over the past 2 days have really wreaked some havoc around here. There is so much trash rushing down the river, it's ridiculous. We weren't able to get anyone to go on the poker run with us anyway, so we probably weren't going to go. Hopefully, they'll reschedule it for a better date where some people can go.
My son's grandmother is going through treatment for cancer and i'm concerned about her. I know it is a tough thing to go through, but she is a really strong lady. I wouldn't have made it this far without her and all of her help with John Paul, so I hope she is able to beat this disease. I pray that John Paul will be released from jail and be able to see her and his Paw Paw again. They have been such important figures in his life. I have turned John Paul's life over to God, so i'm anxious to see what the outcome will be. But, if anyone should read this, please keep John Paul and his Maw Maw in your prayers.
